About

Laurence Gray is a CMC-Registered civil and commercial mediator accredited by the London School of Mediation. Based in Cornwall, he mediates in person across Devon and Cornwall — and anywhere in the UK — and offers remote mediation via Zoom for parties who prefer not to travel.

Alongside his mediation practice, Laurence is a partner at Keystone Law, the London-based firm he joined in December 2013. Before that, he worked as a solicitor in the property litigation departments of Eversheds in London and Clarke Willmott in Bristol, building over 25 years of first-hand experience in litigating property and commercial disputes.

That litigation background is central to what makes Laurence effective as a mediator. He has seen, from the inside, how costly and time-consuming court proceedings can be — and how rarely the outcome justifies that cost. He brings that perspective to the table as a neutral: not to push parties towards a particular result, but to help them see their dispute clearly and find a resolution they can both live with.

His experience as a litigator also means he can quickly identify the key issues between parties, assess the relative merits of each side's position, and use that understanding to open up realistic settlement options that might not otherwise be apparent.

"Having spent over two decades in litigation, I know exactly what going to court costs — in money, time and stress. Mediation almost always produces a better outcome for both parties."

Laurence is on the panels of The Barrister Group and the Association of South West Mediators, and accepts referrals from solicitors, barristers and directly from individuals and businesses. He mediates disputes of all sizes, from neighbour boundary disagreements to complex multi-party commercial cases.
